i'm talking eastern part of the west virginia panhandle. most of the maryland except for down in st. mary's county. damaging wind gusts and small hail if they get strong enough. we'll watch this from mid to late afternoon. go through 6:00 and you see a few spots of green showing up. sort of like boiling water. bubbles coming just not sure where. we'll watch the doppler closely this afternoon. we quiet down overnight. and then tomorrow we're going to watch it one more time with the heat and humidity. there we go with a few more thunderstorms developing. by the time we get to friday looks like there will be less of a trigger. still very hot. low if not mid-90s across the region. there's our front. that's going to change things for the weekend. temperatures this afternoon they are going to soar. winchester 95. 92 cumberland and lower 80s in annapolis. our seven-day forecast it's hot through friday. again, watch out for storms this afternoon. topper will have the latest through the afternoon fall tonight 11:09. saturday cooling down to around 8

look at the 90s in southeast virginia. good day at virginia beach. we had really nasty weather roll through as a result of the heat surging and contrasting with temperatures in the 60s to the northwest. we belong at 78. we've got this contrast of air masses that built up nasty weather. you'll see sunrise come up at 6:50. the nasty weather did fall through on average about a quarter to half inch of rain in some spots. it came in yesterday a few hours early. it came in about 3:00 for a lot of us. look at the nasty weather up towards new york. they had potential tornadoes in new york city yesterday. winds 60 to 80 miles per hour in the city. great neck, long island recorded a 100 mile-per-hour wind gust. one fatality coming in from these storms. that energy is pushing away from new england this morning. the moisture behind it will be in the form of cloud cover. overall, we should be looking at a partly sunny sky here. the more sun southeast and we'll transition those clouds maybe to showers in the beaches overnight and tomorrow morning into the afternoo

especially in virginia. across the border in north carolina, they took, look at flooding there. this is wilmington near the coast. and southeast corner of the state. and folks can expect this all over the place. our chief meteorologist is in the weather center. it looks like it moved west. >>reporter: most of the moisture is to the west of new york city and areas to the south. but you are seeing the pictures of wilmington with rainfall since sunday, over 20" in a matter of five days. that is causing big problems. and it is still raining. the new area of low pressure is building. that will funnel the moisture. the reason the moisture is dense is because of moisture from nicole with tornado watch in pennsylvania, delaware and all this rain that is heavy, a lot of leaves on the trees and we will see those knocked off. some of the leaves have changed and that will cause big time flooding. the totals just since yesterday, again, in wilmington, 8" and over 20" since early this week. this is where we got the flooding concerns, flash flooding going on now including in the capitol and we

still muggy 70s in southeast virginia. all of the energy rolling out of eastern new england this morning. we'll have a mixture of clouds and sun today going to 82 in baltimore. westminster a little cooler at 78. we're expecting temperatures tonight back down to our 55 degrees. tomorrow we're going to get back with more sunshine and a high of 79. let's see what's happening on the roads right now with the traffic update with kim brown. >> actually, the wet roads are starting to have an impact on the commute. we have an accident reported in jessup, route 1 southbound at montevedeo drive. along the roadways, the roads are slick so please take it easy as you make your way around. fortunately 695 looks good. here at 195, no problems there. as i mentioned, just that one crash in jessup, you will see police directing traffic at mont that individual deo drive. southbound 95, about a three minute ride. no issues so far on 795 between owings mills boulevard and the beltway. only four minutes so far. megan, back to you. >>> high blood
